Heavy-Duty Flooring Systems

A versatile solution for more clear space and heavier loads

Colby's Sigma Beam is a breakthrough in raised storage design. The specially optimised Sigma profiles are manufactured in a variety of different depths and material thicknesses to optimise structural performance, cost, and durability. All Sigma beams are made in Australia from high tensile steel, with a galvanised finish.

The Sigma profiles used in the decking support structure are commonly known as primary and secondary beams. The structure of support beams is bolted together using standardised brackets. Prepunched holes in all Sigma beams facilitate simple, bolted connections between uprights and other structural components.

Sigma Beam Profiles

The specially optimised Sigma profiles are punched at 50mm centres to enable simple connections to other components.

Bracing for Added Stability

Down aisle bracing may be required to give the floor structural stability. Bracing is manufactured from standard, light-weight components, and is easily installed.

Increased Aisle Width

Sigma profiles used as floor joists can acheive large spans, allowing a reduction in the number of upright frames. This increases the aisle width as well as the clear space below the floor.

Decking Options

Depending on your requirements, floors can be designed and delivered with different decking materials such as plywood, particleboard or steel grating.

Stairs, Guardrails and OH&S

All Raised Storage designs include stairs, treads, barriers and handrails, as well as smoke curtains (if necessary).

Sprinkler pipes and electrical wiring are easily mounted into the Sigma profile section, thanks to its array of regular perforations. This reduces both cost and installation time.

Easily Reconfigured

The Sigma floor system offers flexibility, with all structural connections being bolted or screwed. Unlike conventional steel constructions, this system can be easily moved or modified at a later date, to accomodate changing requirements.
